IXON Featured on Japan's NHK News

On Thursday August 26, IXON was proudly featured on Japan’s national broadcaster, NHK News, during a special segment covering the "Hokkaido F Village X" (HFX) global accelerator program. The evening broadcast showcased IXON's technology as part of its coverage of the eight international startups selected from a highly competitive pool of 245 applicants across 36 countries.

The NHK news segment focused on the real-world applications of IXON's breakthrough preservation technology. During the broadcast, the news anchor detailed how IXON’s specialized process sterilizes food using 160°C heat before immediately sealing it, allowing highly perishable items like meat and vegetables to be safely stored at room temperature for approximately two years.

To showcase the real-world results of this technology, the NHK reporter sampled IXON's ambient fresh fruit corn on camera. Upon tasting it, he enthusiastically described the corn as shaki shaki—incredibly crisp, crunchy, and fresh—proving that shelf-stable food can deliver the exact same sensory experience as freshly harvested produce.

Furthermore, the NHK coverage emphasized two massive regional impacts IXON can bring to Japan. First, the technology can provide high-quality, long-lasting emergency food supplies that do not require refrigeration during natural disasters. Second, it empowers local farmers to export Hokkaido's renowned agricultural products, such as premium corn and meats, to international markets without the heavy cost of a cold chain.

Takuya Miyata, Representative of Scrum Ventures (the venture capital firm hosting the program), expressed his optimism during the segment: "We can create a tremendous impact by not only solving local challenges, but also unlocking Hokkaido's potential on a global scale. I have high expectations for these promising startups."

Moving forward, IXON will conduct on-site demonstration tests across Hokkaido to tackle these regional challenges. We look forward to presenting the results of these pilot projects alongside our fellow cohort members in February 2027.
